Randa Roberson is originally from Idalou, about 20 miles north of Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Trinity Christian High School in Lubbock before pursuing a career in the medical field. After earning her technical degree in surgical technology from South Plains College in Lubbock, she worked in the dental field for more than 10 years.

In 2009, Roberson enrolled at Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock, earning her bachelor's in business administration with a specialization in healthcare administration and then her MBA. She worked at Texas Tech University (TTU) for nine years, ending her career at TTU as the business manager/senior analyst for TTU-Costa Rica in the Office of International Affairs. She transitioned to A&M-Commerce in 2021.

Randa and her husband, Daniel, enjoy traveling, hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities. The couple has two sons, Brenden and Asher.

A Conversation with Randa

How do you help students at A&M-Commerce?

As a budget manager in the Division of Academic Affairs, my work has an influence on student experiences. For instance, I track funding for students’ instructors, classrooms and available academic resources. I pride myself on giving students the white glove treatment during every interaction. I want to make sure they are heard and have the resources they need to succeed.

What do you like most about your career?

I enjoy learning and gaining new knowledge through life experiences. My career in higher education has opened so many doors, allowing me to learn more about the importance of helping transform the lives of our future professionals. I like knowing that I can make a difference, even with the smallest tasks.

What would you tell a student who is considering attending A&M-Commerce?
